The EBDFA makes a differentiation between certifications and certificates for the official examinations:
The EBDFA certifications are progressive role-based certifications for individuals who aspire to have Big Data as a career. Especially in the intermediate (Analyst and Engineer) and specialist (Scientist and Architect) certification levels, extensive efforts will be required to pass due to the modules’ more in-depth nature. The modules follow a track, meaning that the module will have official prerequisites to assure candidates have the required credentials. The EBDFA certifications are role-based industry-leading credentials, and therefore are challenging.
The EBDFA certificates are individual independent modules that cover a specific topic in-depth. They are meant for individuals who want to learn more about data, without the requirement to have it as a career. Most participants who participate in the certificate programs want to learn more about a specific topic. For the certificates, there are no prerequisites. Every module is completed in two days, and the exams have a standardized format (1-hour, 40 questions exam with 65% pass mark).
The Enterprise Big Data Framework Alliance (EBDFA) is an independent body of knowledge for advancing Big Data best practices. EBDFA develops the content, course curriculum and examination to systematically improve knowledge about Big Data. Besides certification, EBDFA focuses on organizing events, and building a community of Big Data Professionals.
Ensuring examination integrity is a specialisation in itself, and requires the highest quality of standards for test taking. APMG-International, the global examinations institute, has been appointed by EBDFA to oversee the exam administration process. Candidates who will take an exam therefore need to meet the quality standards as set by APMG-International.
Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) usually include the examination as part of their training course – please check with your ATO before booking.
For those who self-study, the exams can be taken anywhere in the world, from the comfort of your home or workplace, with online proctoring. A proctor will access your exam as you take it to monitor the exam environment through your computer’s desktop, webcam and microphone.
Once you have booked an exam, you will be given a registration email to schedule an appointment with your live proctor via our Candidate Portal. Our online proctoring system allows you to take your exam anytime as sessions are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Exam vouchers can be purchased through the EBDFA Store.
Candidates will be able to claim their digital badge and electronic certificate from their APMG Candidate Portal within two business days of their exam result being issued.
Yes, there is. All EBDFA examination have a pass mark of 65% for all examinations. Although the number of exam questions varies per exam, the pass mark of 65% is consistent.
For accredited EBDFA trainers, the pass mark is 75% on all examinations. This ensures that trainers are ‘above the content’ in terms of their exam practice. Note that no exceptions are given on this pass mark. As a student of any ATO, you will therefore always know that your trainer achieved the trainer pass mark.
